Art & St Pauls Restaurant

Sunday, 18 October 2009

We started at Tate Britain to see the Turner Prize exhibition which I really enjoyed and had two favorites Richard Wright and Lucy Skaer .
We then took the boat down to Tate Modern, which is the way to see London. First having lunch in St Pauls which was a superb meal. Going across the bridge gives you great views across the London sites. The restaurant focuses on local suppliers supporting British businesses and local people and wow what a treat it was. They have also recently sponsored some of their very own beehives at the Regents Park apiaries with Pure Food, and it allows them to have their very own wild honey – try it in their gingerbread sandwich which was awesome! Also the Montgomery & rosemary biscuits were a must. The restaurant also has my favorite chairs The Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner 1950.

Then onto The Tate to see the installation in the Turbine Hall Miroslaw Balka’s How It Is a box of darkness, it was an amazing weird experience. Miroslaw was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1958. He lives and works in Warsaw and Otwock. You walk into the space not being able to see anything and then at the end hit a velvet wall before turning round to see light as shown in the photo above, it was a very disturbing yet also peaceful experience.

Didn't have time to see the Pop Life exhibition so must go back to see that before it ends 17th January....
